Fine Motor Development- Drawing and Scribbling

This activity is designed for 18 months Children. At this age, toddlers are working on figuring out how to communicate their wants and needs. Real words and simple sentences are now mixed in with their babble. They are curious about everything. Our role, as parents and teachers, is to thoughtfully prepare their environment and to encourage them to be as independent as possible.

Drawing and Scribbling is an activity most children enjoys. They are given task to draw anything they imagine and assume a name for what they draw. For example, he imagines of a tree for drawing and describe his art like a tree. This activity helps to develop fine motor skills such as grasping, holding, and manipulating a paintbrush, and it also encourages creativity and artistic expression.

The children are given a 'doodler' to scribble. Sometimes they could have imitate you writing a grocery list or something. His self-confidence is growing as he is able to do more and more things on his own.
